CANCER OF UNKNOWN PRIMARY
When cancer spread to body but physician not able to identify primary site of cancer, its called cancer of unknown primary.
Mostly cancer which spread to other part or metastasis to other organs known as secondary cancer and the site where cancer begin called as primary cancer but in rare cases cancer spread to other parts and physician unable to located its primary site in that cases physician use term cancer of unknown primary.
CAUSES OF CANCER OF UNKNOWN PRIMARY
The exact cause what lead to this type of cancer is not known, but due to some unknown cause, DNA mutation happen and these changes in DNA leads to overproduction of affected cell.
In later stages most cancer metastases to other organ or part of body.
Risk factor are:
- Smoking – most of cancer of unknown primary have history of smoking
- Old age- are at higher risk
- Alcohol intake
- Weight – obesity
