CHILDHOOD EXTRACRANIAL GERM CELL TUMORS

Germ cell are type of cell which present during fetus development later these cell becomes sperms and egg in testis and ovaries respectively.

But sometime these cells become cancerous and start growing abnormally, outside brain and form extra-cranial germ cell tumors.

Extra-cranial germ cell tumor usually form in-

1. Testicles 
2. Ovaries
3. Sacrum, Coccyx
4. Head and neck
5. Mediastinum etc

Extra-cranial germ cell tumors are mainly affect child, young, and adolescence.

CAUSES OF CHILDHOOD EXTRA CRANIAL GERM CELL TUMOR:

 The exact cause, what leads to mutation of germ cell present in body other then brain is not known yet

But some risk factors are there which increase chance of development of this cancer.

 These risk factors are:-

•   Having certain genetic conditions –  Klineftelter syndrome

                                            – Turner syndrome

                                            – Swyer syndrome

• Undescended testis
• Family history
• Abnormalities in gonads

SYMPTOMS OF CHILDHOOD EXTRA CRANIAL GERM CELL TUMORS:

1. Fever 
2. Constipation 
3. Pain in abdomen or backache
4. Pressure felt in urinary bladder, trouble in micturition
5. Lump felt in abdomen, back, pelvic region
6. Chest pain, respiratory troubles, cough
7. Menstrual disturbance, Amenorrhea
8. Puberty earlier
9. Discharge from vagina, bleeding

              >> Beta- human chorionic gonadotropin

• Blood chemistry
• Image studies – CT-scan

                                  – X- ray

                                  -Ultrasound

• Biopsy
• Test on collected sample

                          >> Cytogenetic analysis 

                           >>Immunohisto chemistry

PRECAUTIONS OF CHILDHOOD EXTRACRANIAL GERM CELL TUMOR:

  There are no proper measures which can prevent growth of this cancer but overll healthy lifestyle boosts immunity and prevents severe illness.

1. Adopt healthy lifestyle
2. Drink plenty of water
3. Exercise regularly
4. Eat healthy
5. Take proper treatment for illness mainly related to gonads, undecended testes etc
6. Maintain weight / Reduce stress

 Calcaria Carb:- 

1. Distention with hardness, In abdomen
2. Cutting pain in swollen abdomen
