GESTATIONAL TROPHOBLASTIC DISEASE

It is a type of cancer, in which tumors start developing in cell that normally develop into placenta during pregnancy.

 The cancer is rare type occur during pregnancy or after pregnancy 

Gestational Trophoblastic Disease can be benign or malignant.

Type:- 2 Main type of GTD

          — Hydatiform mole – most common type of GTD

                              – Benign in origin mostly

 CAUSE OF GESTATIONAL TROPHOBLASTIC DISEASE:

     Exact cause is not known yet

     Risk factor for GTD includes:

  1. Early pregnancy before age 20 or late pregnancy after 35
  2. Beta human chorionic gonadotropin (B.HCG) increase production
  3. Ovarian cyst
  4. Uterine tumors
  5. History of GTD
