MULTIPLE ENDOCRINE NEOPLASIA SYNDROMES
INTRODUCTION: – multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN):- it is a group of inherited disorder which mainly affects the endocrine system. Endocrine system regulates many hormones in the body.
TYPES AND CAUSES OF MULTIPLE ENDOCRINE NEOPLASIA SYNDROMES: –
there are many types of MEN that cause this syndromes:-
MEN Type 1:- it is due to mutation in MEN1 gene. Parathyroid glands, pancreas and pituitary gland affects from mutation in MEN 1.
MEN Type 2A:- it is due to RET proto- oncogene. Thyroid gland, adrenal glands, parathyroid glands affects from this.
MEN Type 2B:- it is due to RET- oncogene.
SYMPTOMS: – symptoms depends on the type of MEN:-
- MEN 1:-
- Tumors in parathyroid gland.
- Hyperparathyroidism.
- Hyperkalemia.
- Insulinomas.
- Gastrinomas.
- Glucagonomas.
- Tumor in pituitary gland.
- MEN 2A:-
- Medullary thyroid carcinoma.
- Tumor in adrenal gland.
- Hyperparathyroidism.
- Hyperkalemia.
- MEN 2B:-
- MTC.
- Pheochromocytoma.
- Ganglioneuromatos.
- Long limbs, joint hypermobility.
OTHER COMMON SYMPTOMS ARE:-
- Weight loss.
- Mood changes.
- Energy level down.
- Lump or mass feels on affected area.
- Abdominal pain.
- Diarrhea, vomiting.
- Constipation.
- Joint pain.
- Long limbs.
- HTN.
- Loss of appetite.
- Weakness etc.
INVESTIGATIONS:-
- Genetic testing.
- CBC.
- Hormone level assessment.
- Ultrasound.
- CT- scans.
- MRI
- Octreotide scan.
- Biopsy.
MULTIPLE ENDOCRINE NEOPLASIA SYNDROMES HOMOEOPATHIC TREATMENT:-

- Person is debilitated.
- Loose and offensive stools with complete exhaustion thereafter.
