MESOTHELIOMA (MALIGNANT)

Mesothelioma is a rare type of cancer which firstly affects the lining of lungs. But it can also occur in the lining of the abdomen, heart, liver and other organs.

TYPES: – there are many types of mesothelioma:– 

Pleural mesothelioma: – it is the most common form of mesothelioma that occurs in 75% of cases. It develops in the lining of the lungs (pleura).

Pericardial mesothelioma: – it develops in the lining surrounding the heart (pericardium).

Peritoneal mesothelioma: – it develops in the lining of the abdomen. (Peritoneum).

Testicular mesothelioma: – it develops in the lining surrounding the testes.

CAUSES: – the main cause of mesothelioma is exposure to asbestos.

Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that was widely used in various industries for its heat resistance and insulating properties.

Whenever asbestos fibers are inhaled or ingested, they can lodge in the lining of different organs such as lungs, heart, abdomen etc. and that develop the mesothelioma.

Those individuals who living near asbestos mines or areas are at higher risk.

Smoking can increase the risk of developing mesothelioma.

MESOTHELIOMA SYMPTOMS:-

symptoms depends upon the location of mesothelioma:-

Pleural mesothelioma: – 

1. Persistent cough.
2. Swelling or nodule in chest area.
3. Hoarseness of voice.
4. Dyspnea.
5. Chest pain or tightness.
6. Weakness or fatigue. 
7. Dysphagia.

Pericardial mesothelioma:-

1. Chest pain.
2. Irregular heartbeat.
3. Difficulty breathing.
4. Cough.
5. Night sweats.
6. Fever.
7. Fatigue.
8. Weakness.

Peritoneal mesothelioma: –

1. Nausea and vomiting.
2. Unexplained weight loss.
3. Abdominal pain or swelling.
4. Ascites.
5. Diarrhea or constipation.
6. Loss of appetite.
7. Lump or dwelling in abdominal area.
8. Weakness.
9. Fatigue.

Testicular mesothelioma: –

1. Swelling or lumps in the testicles.
2. Pain or discomfort in the testicles.
3. Hydrocele.

General symptoms: –

1. Unexplained weight loss.
2. Blood in the stool or urine.
3. Prolonged bleeding from minor injuries.
4. Pain or discomfort.
5. Loss of appetite.
6. Loss of weight.
7. Weakness and fatigue.

INVESTIGATIONS:-

• Chest x-ray.
• CT SCAN.
• MRI SCAN.
• PET SCAN.
• BIOPSY: – thoracoscopy, laparoscopy, needle biopsy, surgical  biopsy.
• Biomarker testing.

MESOTHELIOMA HOMOEOPATHIC MEDICINES:-

ARSENIC ALBUM:-

1. Nausea and vomiting after eating or drinking.
2. Vomiting of blood, bile, green mucus.
3. Dyspepsia from vinegar, acids, ice- cream, ice water, tobacco.
4. Liver and spleen enlarged.
5. Small, offensive, dark with marked prostration.
6. Cough worse after midnight.
7. Expectoration scanty, frothy.
8. Darting pain through the upper third of the right lung.

BELLADONNA:-

1. Violent palpitations.
2. Palpitation from little exertion.
3. Throat feels constricted difficult deglutition, worse liquid.
4. Sensation of a lump.
5. Great thirst for cold water.
6. Abdomen is tender and swollen.
7. Cutting pain across stiches on left side of the abdomen mainly when coughing, sneezing or touching it.

NUX VOMICA;-

1. Bruised, soreness of abdominal walls.
2. Rough, scrapped feeling.
3. Region of stomach very sensitive to pressure.
4. Weakness in the region of abdominal ring.
5. Cough, with sensation as if something had been torn loose in the chest.
6. Shallow respiration.
7. Constrictive pain in testicles.
8. Hydrocele.
9. Orchitis.
