Teething

Discomfort during early childhood caused by the eruption of the primary teeth. Teething is the growth of teeth through the gums in the mouth of infants and young children. Your baby starts teething, between 6 and 12 months. He or she may be irritable during the day and sleepless at night. Baby was born with all 20 primary teeth below their gum line.

Children usually have their full set of baby teeth in place by age 3.
The two bottom front teeth come in first.
Next to grow the two upper incisors front teeth, then the other incisors, upper molar, canines, and finally the upper and lower molars come in.

The eruption of a tooth can be uncomfortable and make your baby restless and irritable. It is characterised by flushed cheeks, dribbling, and red swollen gums at the site and surrounding of the new tooth.

Sign of teething are:

  •   Chewing on hard objects
  •    Sleeping problems
  • Gum Swelling
  • Irritable behaviour
  •   changes eating pattern
  •    Excessive drooling

Symptoms:

  •   Teething can be painful 
  •   Diarrhoea
  • Vomiting
  • Rashes on the body
  •   Fever, slightly increase temperature  
  • Cough 
  • Swelling of their face

Management:

  •    Rub baby gums with clean fingers
  •    Babies who are teething chewing on a cold or hard object such as a teething ring
  •    Avoid sweets, chocolate, candies
  •    Maintain good oral hygiene

Homeopathic medicines:

  Chamomilla: chamomilla is a well indicated remedy for irritability. Piteous moaning because he cannot have what he wants. Extremely sensitive to every pain. Mental calmness contraindicates. Distress of teething children.

Diarrhoea during dentition. Anxious , frightened dreams with half open eyes.

  Phytolacca: phytolacca can be given in retarded dentition. Teething children with an irresistible desire to bite the teeth together. Much stringy saliva. Teeth clenched. Fever with chilliness. Inflammation of tonsils.

  Aethusa: aethusa is a well indicated remedy for marked diarrhea and there is inability to digest milk. Anxious and restless. Irritability is well marked. Violent vomiting of a white frothy matter. Undigested thin greenish stool preceded by pain. Cholera infantum.

  Cina: this is a child remedy. Grinding teeth. Child does not want to be touched, or crossed or carried. Desire many things but refuse everything. Itchy nose all the time. Craving for sweets. Worms . itching of anus. In cina, fever, face cold and hands warm. Night terrors of children.
