HEAD AND NECK CANCER

Those cancers which develop in the mouth, nose, salivary gland, sinuses and throat are called Head and neck cancer.

Mostly cancer of head and neck are squamous cell origin and affect mucous membrane of head and neck .i.e Nose, Throat, Sinuses, Salivary gland

CAUSE OF HEAD AND NECK CANCER:

1. Smoking is one of the greatest risk factor for developing head and neck cancer
2. Exposure to smoke indirectly also increase risk factor
3. Tabacco chewing may lead to cancer mainly oral cancer
4. Infection with human papillo virus (HPV) are at higher risk for throat and mouth cancer
5. Excessive sun exposure
6. Radiation exposure mainly of head and neck region
7. Immune deficiency , poor nutrition , Vitamin, mineral deficiencies, exposure to toxin
8. Age above 50
9. Male are at higher risk

TYPE OF HEAD AND NECK CANCER:

 When cancer develop in mucous membranes of the mouth, nose , throat is called head and neck cancer.

  Depends on mucous membrane of which part is affected, there are different types of cancer i.e

   — Laryngeal cancer- when mucous membrane of larynx involved

   — Naso pharyngeal cancer- which start in nasopharynx upper part of throat.

   — Hypo pharyngeal cancer- which develop in lower part of throat

   — Nasal cavity and par nasal sinus cancer

   —Salivary gland cancer – Develop in salivary producing gland

   — Oropharyngeal cancer – Begin in oropharynx 

   — Tonsil cancer- Develop in tonsil

   —Oral cancer

SYMPTOMS OF HEAD AND NECK CANCER:

      Symptoms of cancer depends on the part of head and neck is affected and where its spread

     Common symptoms are:

1.  Weight loss without known cause
2. Change in voice
3. Headache
4. Red and White patches inside mouth
5. Difficulty in chewing, swallowing
6. Sore throat and pain in throat
7. Tonsil swell
8. Recurrent coughing
9. Lump in neck, nose, throat
10. Trouble in breathing
11. Obstruction inside nose, throat

PRECAUTION:

1. Avoid smoking
2. Limit alcohol intake / quit drinking
3. Maintain hygiene
4. Eat healthy food, leafy vegetables
5. Exercise Regularly
6. Limit your Exposure to toxic, smoke, dust, sun
7. Stop tobacco chewing
8. Maintain immunity, eat vitamin supplements if deficiency of it.

Bryta Carb:

2. Always have swollen tonsils
