Eye floaters are spots in your vision. It looks like a black spot or sometimes gray in color. It clearly appears on vision.
Most eye floaters are caused by age-related changes.
It mostly occurs as a jelly-like substance vitreous that liquefies and makes a spot inside the eyes.
Causes of Eye Floaters
• Inflammation of the back of the eyes: inflammation of the layers of the uvea in the back called posterior uveitis. Its history can cause the eyes floater by releasing the inflammatory debris into the vitreous and make floaters.
• Bleeding in the eye: the blood cells are seen as floaters. Due to blocked blood vessels, hypertension, diabetes there may chance of bleeding.
• Age-related eye changes: as a change in eyes the vitreous, jelly-like mucous filling in the eyeballs. Over time the vitreous fluid liquefies. A process that causes it to pull away from the eyeballs. Later on, that vitreous fluid changes into a hard shape.
• Torn retina: it occurs when sagging vitreous tugs on the retina. Without treatment, a retinal tear may lead to retinal detachment and untreated retinal detachment can cause permanent vision loss.
• Eye medicines and surgeries: certain medicines which are iniected into the vitreous can cause air bubbles to form. It looks like balloons until it changes into hard shapes.
Symptoms of Eye Floaters
• Spots are easily visible when we look at plan bright background like a blue sky.
• Its small shape or strings eventually settle down.
• When there are eye movements then spots can also move with it.
• Small shapes in the vision appear as dark specks or knobby.
